Christ The King RC Primary School - To Work Is To Pray

Religious Education

We follow the Come and See programme as recommended by the Diocese of Salford.

All schools in the Diocese of Salford are inspected under the 5Ws' Framework: Welcome, Welfare, Witness, Worship and Word. At Christ the King, we endeavour to give our children a well rounded RE education which incorporates all five equally.

In normal circumstances, Our Gift Team would meet once a week with our lay chaplains and prepare an Act of Worship to be delivered to all classes on Friday mornings, based on the following Sunday’s Gospel.

In addition, our RE Coordinator would lead a prayer and worship group at Wednesday lunchtimes for the rest of KS2, where the children develop on their own Christian journeys.

Assemblies and Class Acts of Worship are based on current themes, for example, special Saints days, CAFOD work, charity and fundraising events.

Each Monday includes a whole school assembly where the children come together 'electronically' to join in prayer and discuss whole school themes linked to faith.

Each Wednesday, all classes come together 'electronically' to celebrate 'Praise and Worship' which involves singing, praying, meditation and reflection.

The Sacramental Programme takes place in Y4 and follows the Liverpool Diocese With You Always. This is delivered between church, school and home with monthly meetings have been taking place 'electronically'.
